“It is as though the poem, through its exuberance, awakened new depths in us. […] And this is also true of a simple experience of reading. The image offered us by reading the poem now becomes really our own. It takes root in us. It has been given us by another, but we begin to have the impression that we could have created it…[the image] becomes a new being…by making us what it expresses. […] Here expression creates being” (Bachelard).

For Grandparent Eyes Only
Really. If you aren't one of his grandparents, this video will be very boring. But I couldn't pass up posting 2 minutes of coo's and goo's for his Grandma Vickie and Grandpa Lester!
Edge is SO cute nowadays! He LOVES to talk. More than half the time, if he starts crying it's because he wanted to talk and no one was listening. If you turn him to face you and talk to him, he stops crying and starts his cooing and gooing. SO STINKIN' CUTE!

2 Months
Edgar turned 2 months old last Saturday! It's amazing how much can change in 2 months! Edgar is SO much happier now than he was even 2 weeks ago. He spends a lot of time "talking" to anyone who will smile and listen. He held his first rattle this week and managed to get it into his mouth...he was pretty proud of himself. He had his first shots this week and did really well! He also took his first shower (with his grandma) and loved it! Then he took his second shower--also with his grandma who let water run down his face, and he hated it! It's tough being a baby.
We attended two graduations last weekend. Our nephews Elias and Michael both graduated from high school--and both were valedictorians! Way to go guys! Here is Edgar (or "Gar" as Michael calls him) with Michael in his money lei.
Our pinochle nights with Mick and Marva have turned into 3-handed pinochle while I nurse Edge or Grandma Carmichael rocks him. Yup. He is totally cramping our style. (Can you call it "style" when your social life consists of playing cards with your in-laws? That has nothing to do with Edgar--that's always been our main social events!)

Edgar's Debut
This past weekend was Edgar's baby blessing. Whew! What a crazy weekend! It was super fun: FOURTEEN of my Utah family members caravaned up to Oregon for the blessing (his 2 sets of great-grandparents, his grandparents, and his 7 aunts and uncles and 1 potential aunt). In addition to that, most of his Oregon family came too (grandparents, aunties, uncles, and cousins). A couple of good friends came for the blessing as well. It was so great to have everyone there. My dad, brother Peter, and mother-in-law Marva all bore their testimonies during the church service--and it was great to hear that.
(In case it was in questions, his daddy did give him the name Edgar Alexander Carmichael).
CAUTION: If you aren't in the following pictures, you will likely feel it is picture overload...but it's really not for you anyway.
Edgar with his Utah aunties, uncles, and potential auntie: Candice, Adam, Tayva (with Edgar's baby BOY cousin in the oven), Peter, Stefanie, Darin, Ryan, and Kaylee.
