For Grandparent Eyes Only

Really. If you aren't one of his grandparents, this video will be very boring. But I couldn't pass up posting 2 minutes of coo's and goo's for his Grandma Vickie and Grandpa Lester!

Edge is SO cute nowadays! He LOVES to talk. More than half the time, if he starts crying it's because he wanted to talk and no one was listening. If you turn him to face you and talk to him, he stops crying and starts his cooing and gooing. SO STINKIN' CUTE!

2 Months

Edgar turned 2 months old last Saturday! It's amazing how much can change in 2 months! Edgar is SO much happier now than he was even 2 weeks ago. He spends a lot of time "talking" to anyone who will smile and listen. He held his first rattle this week and managed to get it into his mouth...he was pretty proud of himself. He had his first shots this week and did really well! He also took his first shower (with his grandma) and loved it! Then he took his second shower--also with his grandma who let water run down his face, and he hated it! It's tough being a baby.

We attended two graduations last weekend. Our nephews Elias and Michael both graduated from high school--and both were valedictorians! Way to go guys! Here is Edgar (or "Gar" as Michael calls him) with Michael in his money lei.

Both graduations were outdoors--which was actually really nice because all of the outdoor sounds more or less drowned out Edgar's cries. Everyone took a turn holding him--even his Grandpa Mick (the other Edgar Alexander). This is a rare occasion as Mick claims that he doesn't like babies and doesn't want anything to do with them "until they can throw rocks." But, we know better. He's pretty smitten with Edgar just like the rest of us (=

Our pinochle nights with Mick and Marva have turned into 3-handed pinochle while I nurse Edge or Grandma Carmichael rocks him. Yup. He is totally cramping our style. (Can you call it "style" when your social life consists of playing cards with your in-laws? That has nothing to do with Edgar--that's always been our main social events!)

(Don't worry people...she looks a little scary, but she really is trying to play with the baby--not eat him). Daddy and Edge on a car ride.
Momma and Edge napping.
So, 2 months later, we still really like him. Actually, I think I like him more. Even though he is screaming his head off at his dad in the other room right now. Sounds like it is time for a mommy rescue.

Edgar's Debut

This past weekend was Edgar's baby blessing. Whew! What a crazy weekend! It was super fun: FOURTEEN of my Utah family members caravaned up to Oregon for the blessing (his 2 sets of great-grandparents, his grandparents, and his 7 aunts and uncles and 1 potential aunt). In addition to that, most of his Oregon family came too (grandparents, aunties, uncles, and cousins). A couple of good friends came for the blessing as well. It was so great to have everyone there. My dad, brother Peter, and mother-in-law Marva all bore their testimonies during the church service--and it was great to hear that.
(In case it was in questions, his daddy did give him the name Edgar Alexander Carmichael).

CAUTION: If you aren't in the following pictures, you will likely feel it is picture overload...but it's really not for you anyway.

Edgar with his Utah aunties, uncles, and potential auntie: Candice, Adam, Tayva (with Edgar's baby BOY cousin in the oven), Peter, Stefanie, Darin, Ryan, and Kaylee.

Our cute little family hanging at the beach in Lincoln City.

Darling!
Edgar meets his cousin Emily. He is not impressed. She is a bit overwhelmed by the hair.
When Garrett and Emily came with their mama Amy to visit, we already had 3 other little ones over to play. This is a snapshot of Alex trying to keep 5 little ones happy at the same time.

Edgar and Grandpa Lester. They are definitely related.

Edge and Grammie V. She's totally whooped.

Edgar and Grandma Carpickle.

Edgar and Great-Grandma Betty. It was super sweet to watch her rock and sing him to sleep.

Edgar and his "Auntie" Amy

Edgar and Auntie Steffie

Yup. He's super cute. And he just blew through his nice white blessing outfit.
We spent lots of time with our Utah family. We went to the beach (Lincoln City and Newport one day--Seaside, Cannon Beach, and Tillamook another day), Silver Falls, Deepwood, and had a campfire in the backyard. It was super fun, and super exhausting! Edgar and I slept for a whole day after they all left!
Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated Edgar's Debut into these crazy families!

Consumed.

I was thinking I should post something that doesn't mention the baby.

Whoops.

Screaming and Smiling...

The balance is beginning to shift...Edgar is starting to have about as much smiley time as screamy time. Last night he started getting real worked up into a screaming rage, so we jumped in the car and headed down to Eugene to visit our nephew Glenn, his wife Megan, and our neice Greta. After 5 minutes in the car, Edge was all calm and looking out the window. Once we were there he enjoyed hanging with cousin Glenn (who got quite the workout hefting Edgar around to keep him happy!)

The many faces of Edgar...
